Krewe of Strings

Explore the Wonders of Learning!

Students will have a blast discovering music; learning music theory through bingo, scavenger hunts, and other games; writing their own compositions; painting and creating stories to music; developing technique and musicality by working with faculty and guest artists; enjoying workshops on improvisation; playing outdoor sports; and much more!

Last year we had the opportunity of seeing Eli elevate his skills during summer camp. Outside of the passion the instructors pour into the students and their progress, you can also see them working diligently to encourage positive habits and structure in their lives. Music has been a big part of my son’s life and this has only propelled forward in his journey as a musician. Moises and Elizabeth are doing a phenomenal job at building culture within the Crescent City Strings Academy.

Masterclasses

Students have the opportunity to perform and receive daily individual instruction in front ot their peers. Student also benefit from the teacher’s comments, and offer them an opportunity to learn how to offer feedback in a clear and constructive manner.

Group Class

Group Class provides the opportunity for students to perform together as a group. Students learn musical and interpersonal technical skills, as they learn to listen and watch each other, sometimes leading and other times following. They develop leadership skills, self-confidence, and a flexible mindset as they learn new ideas together.

Creativity & Culture

Our curriculum allows students to discover the world through music. Traditional Western classical repertoire and pedagogy are combined with music from world cultures, under-represented composers, New Orleans and American music, and culturally significant and popular music. Students learn about the composers’ lives, their origins, and historical context and significance, as to help develop a broader global cultural consciousness and awareness.
