Krewe of Strings

Masterclasses

Students have the opportunity to perform and receive daily individual instruction in front ot their peers. Student also benefit from the teacher’s comments, and offer them an opportunity to learn how to offer feedback in a clear and constructive manner.

Group Class & Chamber Music

Group Class provides the opportunity for students to perform together as a group. Students learn musical and interpersonal technical skills, as they learn to listen and watch each other, sometimes leading and other times following. They develop leadership skills, self-confidence, and a flexible mindset as they learn new ideas together.

Performance

Students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform side-by-side with the faculty in the orchestra, as well as small group chamber ensembles. Advanced students are also offered the opportunity to rehearse and perform as soloist with the Faculty String Quartet in the final concert!

Creativity & Culture

Our curriculum allows students to discover the world through music. Traditional Western classical repertoire and pedagogy are combined with music from world cultures, under-represented composers, New Orleans and American music, and culturally significant and popular music. Students learn about the composers’ lives, their origins, and historical context and significance, as to help develop a broader global cultural consciousness and awareness.
